Purchasing Manager (Leeds)



On behalf of Zenith Provecta the UK s largest independent leasing fleet management and outsourcing business I am recruiting for the position of Purchasing Manager. The Purchasing Manager and the purchasing team are responsible for the procurement of circa 7000 new vehicles each year to support the business s growing customer base the Purchasing Manager is essentially the hub for the supply base our Sales teams customer base and motor manufacturers. In light of this candidates must have fleet purchasing experience and will typically be from a Dealership or Leasing industry background. As the business s volumes grow it is imperative that the supply chain is challenged to deliver a class-leading service. The successful candidate will therefore be responsible for developing best practice within the order process whilst establishing a strategy that maximises the value of our total spend. This is a hands-on role and the successful applicant needs to be involved in every aspect of the teams role. Accountabilities To be responsible for over £100m of new vehicle (and associated product) spend To structure manage and develop a purchasing team of minimum 3fte that can then provide advice and guidance to our internal customers and act as a centre of expertise for new vehicle procurement To be responsible for the efficiency integrity and effectiveness of all our key processes including the order to delivery process To create strong commercial relationships with our suppliers and negotiate terms consistent with the size of our business To ensure that suppliers perform effectively and all processes and commitments from these suppliers are delivered in an efficient and effective manner Use the Zenith 360 Csi tool to drive supplier performance to world class levels Exhibit strong interpersonal skills to create lasting relationships with your team our sales colleagues suppliers and manufacturers and actively practice and promote a quality customer service ethos both internally and externally Hold and exercise appropriate sign-off authority Key Skills Knowledge Experience Oral communication Must be able to demonstrate evidence of strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to explain or present information to individuals or groups in a structured clear and confident way People Management Must have experience of managing and coaching a team to ensure motivation and performance can be maintained and grown Specialist Knowledge Has a good knowledge of the fleet industry and the relevant procedures products and services in your own area of responsibility Organisational awareness Has a good understanding and fit with the Business overall aims structures operating systems and culture. Able to assess the impact of change on products processes and people. Develops and maintains relationships with key contacts in all relevant areas Environmental awareness Has a good understanding of the business environment Zenith operates in and of industry best practice. Where appropriate has an understanding of competitor services.
